As everything in Slovakia (in particular as far as transportation is concerned), this state-held "national" airport is just a means for politicians to provide well-paid jobs to "experts/managers" linked to the political parties (hence the change in the board of directors and the executives), and to funnel millions of euros of public money on useless construction of new terminals by party-connected "construction companies". This political cronyism is very well visible in Bratislava as well as in other state-run "airports" like Sliac (near Banska Bystrica) and Poprad, both of which have no regular service but both of which (are about to) have new terminals costing millions of euros about to be constructed.
Sad enough it needs to also be pointed out that FWAG owns the Kosice airport in the east that has huge potential with its catchment area covering 1-2 mil people. But, in the 6 years since FWAG took over Kosice they didn't manage to attract any new airlines to the airport, Austrian being the only airline that increases its presence here. It would be interesting to know what FWAG's intentions with KSC are (or whether it's really the case that they only cared about getting BTS and since they didn't get it they aren't really interested in developing Kosice). http://www.facebook.com/LietameZKosic
